Licence agreement
Version 1.0 · Effective 31 October 2026
This agreement is between you and Imaginative Engineering ("we"). It covers the SYLVIE software, its installer, its updates and its documentation. By installing or using SYLVIE you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install it.
1. Your licence
Once you've paid, you may install and use SYLVIE on computers you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use. You may not sell, rent, lend, sublicense or share it, offer it to others as a hosted service, copy it beyond installing and normal backups, remove our notices, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. SYLVIE is licensed, not sold; we keep every right not granted here.
2. Open-source components
SYLVIE includes open-source software and models, each under its own licence, which this agreement doesn't limit. They are listed in the third-party notices, and their licence texts are included with the app. Setup also downloads some programs from their publishers (such as Git for Windows, or Apple's command line tools on a Mac), under their own licences.
3. What SYLVIE is
SYLVIE is a harness: it connects you to an AI language model and lets that model use tools on your computer, such as reading and writing files, running commands, handling email, using GitHub and searching the web, exactly as far as you allow in its settings.
- It includes no language model. You choose one: a model you run yourself (for example with Ollama) or a cloud service (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter) under your own account and their terms, and you pay any fees to them.
- Connected services are yours too: a search provider, an email account, GitHub. Their terms apply.
- AI output can be wrong. Answers, code, emails and actions come from the model you chose and may be inaccurate or unsuitable. Check anything that matters. SYLVIE is not professional advice.
4. Actions on your computer
SYLVIE runs as you, with your permissions. Where you allow it, the model can create, change and delete files, run programs, send email and make changes on GitHub. Each capability is Off, Ask or Allow; you decide, and you are responsible for what you allow and for keeping backups. Remote access, if turned on, makes SYLVIE reachable from your own Tailscale devices: keep them secure.
5. Tools, jobs and access you set up
Tools, scripts, jobs, feeds and automations you create, install or ask SYLVIE to write are yours, not ours. You are responsible for what they do and for checking them before they run; for every account, key, folder and device you grant access to; and for the results, including messages sent, changes made and fees charged by services. Connect only what you have the right to use, and use it lawfully.
6. The model and your data
Inference is done by the model and provider you choose, not by us. When you use a cloud model, SYLVIE sends it your messages and what the task needs: memories, file contents, emails, tool results. How that provider stores, secures or uses that data is governed by its terms and privacy policy. Read them, and choose a local model if your data must not leave your computer. We are not responsible for a provider's outages, errors, data handling, or for what its model does through the tools you allowed. The same applies to every other service you connect.
7. Your data
Your chats, memories, settings and credentials stay on your computer; we don't receive them. What goes to the services you connect is set out in the privacy policy.
8. Updates and support
We may provide updates. Updates within the same major version are included in your purchase, as is email support. We may change or stop updates or support for older versions, subject to your rights under consumer law.
9. Warranty and your consumer rights
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing here limits any right, remedy or guarantee the law gives you. Apart from those rights, and to the extent the law allows, SYLVIE is provided "as is", without other warranties, including that it will run without interruption or error or that any model's output will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of data, profits or business; nor for loss caused by the model or provider you chose, by services you connected, by tools or jobs you created, or by actions you allowed; and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for SYLVIE. Where consumer law lets us limit liability for a failure of a guarantee, it is limited to supplying the software again.
11. Ending this agreement
You may end it any time by uninstalling SYLVIE. We may end it if you materially breach it and don't fix that within 14 days of notice. On ending, stop using SYLVIE and uninstall it. Sections 3 to 6 and 9 to 12 survive.
12. General
Governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You won't use SYLVIE in breach of export or sanctions laws. We may update this agreement for future versions; the version you accepted applies to the version you installed. This agreement and the privacy policy are the whole agreement; if part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. To contact us, use the details on our website.
